Comox Town Council is following Courtenay and refusing its citizens the basic right to present a motion to Council. The motion is in opposition to the Enbridge Pipeline and the Mayor has decided the issue is ultra vires, or beyond Council’s mandate.

AN OIL SPILL IN OUR WATERS AND ON OUR BEACHES IS A LOCAL ISSUE. To date there are 35 municipal governments in BC who have already passed similar motions which oppose the Enbridge Pipeline, the K’omoks First Nation has formally declared their opposition, and 5000+ Comox Valley voters have registered to vote against the Enbridge Pipeline should a citizen’s initiative be enacted.

On Wednesday, join us and gather outside Comox Council Chambers in the hopes that Council will address our concerns about the local and greater impacts of the Enbridge Pipeline, and let our motion be heard. And lets make it fun while we protect our Comox Valley and BC! Come out & celebrate our oil-free coastline and ensure Comox Council hears us – bring your family and dress up the kids, bring signs of support, picnics, lawnchairs, chalk, bubbles, balloons, music and anything else that inspires you. PLEASE SHARE & SPREAD THE WORD!
