Description

We are taking classes from Brooklyn Elementary and Airpark Elementary to Kus-kus-sum to learn about estuary ecology/function and to assist with stewardship. The students will be broken into three groups and rotate through activities on the field trip. Three of the following activities will be included in each field trip: planting, plant maintenance (mulching/weeding), going on a nature walk, playing the salmon versus seals game, testing water quality, participating in a saltwater demonstration.

We need volunteers to help facilitate the activities of this field trip with our staff. Project Watershed staff will bring all necessary equipment to the site, set up the activities and direct the tasks. Volunteers are asked to help students with the tasks of the activities. To prepare volunteers for the field trip, we will send out specific information on the activity they will be involved in. We will also give a run through of the activity the day of the field trip prior to the students arriving on site.
