Board Opening at Project Watershed
Comox Valley Project Watershed Society is seeking expressions of interest from community members interested in joining our volunteer Board of Directors. We are looking for individuals who share our values of reconciliation, partnership, and inclusivity and who want to help us work toward our vision for a resilient coastal ecosystem. We believe that diverse teams make the best decisions, and we encourage individuals of all backgrounds, cultures, identities, and perspectives to apply.
About the Role
As an environmental not-for-profit with highly qualified staff to carry out our mission, Board directors volunteer about 5 hours per month on average, including time to prepare for and attend a bi-monthly meeting. Board directors are active in advisory and governance roles surrounding our projects, events, grant writing, fundraising, networking with funders and liaising with governments of all levels including the K’ómoks First Nation. Directors may also contribute to committees and working groups.
Qualifications
We are seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join our Board of Directors. Ideal candidates should possess a commitment to our mission and values, solid communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. Previous board experience is a plus, but not required. We welcome individuals of diverse backgrounds who are eager to learn and contribute their unique perspectives to our organization. We ask for a commitment to a 3-year term.
