Brian Bawtinheimer

Brian recently moved to the Comox Valley after almost 35 years with the provincial government. At BC Parks, Brian was Executive Director for provincial protected areas planning, land acquisition, conservation and restoration, and Indigenous Relations programs. He chaired the national Canadian Parks Council, Canadian Heritage Rivers Board, and served on the Haida Gwaii Management Council. Following BC Parks, he developed and led several of government’s new initiatives including modernized land use planning, the Old Growth Strategic Review, conservation strategies including protecting and conserving 30% by 2030. Brian was part of the national Indigenous Protected and Conserved Areas initiative.
