Project Watershed is excited to announce a new stewardship partner in the protection and restoration of Comox Valley Watersheds and the K’omoks Estuary – 40 Knots Winery. Located on Anderton Road in Comox, 40 Knots Winery is the largest grape winery in the Comox Valley and the new owners, Brenda and Layne Craig, are committed to producing exquisite wine while taking care of the local environment.Barbara

Not only have they incorporated green farming practices such as using goats and chickens for pest control into their wine making, they are supporting Project Watershed’s work in a variety of ways. “When I approached Brenda Craig of 40 Knots about sponsoring Project Watershed she jumped at the opportunity and they have proactively been supporting us in any way they can” said Project Watershed Treasurer Brian Storey.
40 Knots is donating $1 for every bottle of 2013 Safe Haven sold to Project Watershed. 1,500 bottles of this tasty  dessert wine have been produced resulting in a donation of up to $1,500. On top of this generous donation they worked with Project Watershed to create a label for the wine that highlights the work Project Watershed does – a kind of message on a bottle. The label features “Blue Forest” Project Watershed’s 2013 Keeping It Living estuary inspired artwork. 40 Knots has also purchased this artwork and hung it prominently in their tasting room. “We have received many calls and comments about the image both in the tasting room and on the bottle” reports Brenda Craig. They now sell prints and art cards of the artwork and display information about Project Watershed.
Next time you are at the liquor store treat yourself or someone you know to a bottle of 40 Knots Safe Haven and make a toast to the estuary.
