On Saturday May 27th Project Watershed is holding a Keeping It Living Jumble Sale Fiesta at Simms Millennial Park and we need your help. This event will be to raise funds and awareness about the K’ómoks Estuary and what we and others are doing to protect and restore it. We are planning for kids activities, a giant jumble sale (aka fancy garage sale), bake sale, naturalist guided walks of the area, on site video, and music. As for music, Ryks Davies, a new group called Tide Change and Northman Frank will performing in the pavilion. Cory Frank’s famous seafood chowder, bannock and bannock dogs will also on sale. This should be a fun, interactive day for the whole family!

This year we are celebrating our estuary from the bottom of the ocean to the top of the glacier as is illustrated in our 2017 Keeping It Living Artwork “What is an Estuary?” a video (below) by Sarah, Taralee and Jessie of the Emily Carr University of Art and Design. Through our events this year we are encouraging people to #thinklikeawatershed. The Estuary, its rivers, and lakes all form part of an important salmon highway that return abundance to the Comox Valley year after year. These are all eco-assets that we need not only protect and restore but work with to deal with our rapidly changing infrastructure demands.
