Currently, most of the remaining concrete is in the form of a 170m-long wall buried just behind the steel-piling wall that separates our site from the Courtenay River. Removing this concrete wall is the next step of our restoration and will be undertaken over the next 2 weeks.

Project Watershed will be a continuing with the work that happened last summer and fall which entails excavating the remaining concrete, separating concrete and rebar, crushing concrete, and removal, repurposing, and recycling material offsite.

Happy Technician Tuesday! Last week our team partnered with Laura Terry from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) to conduct a beach seine at Hollyhock Flats.
Once again we will enliven the K’ómoks Estuary with the merry sounds of Christmas Carols. There will be a few changes to this year’s event to keep everyone COVID safe, however, singing and merriment will continue to be the core of this activity.
PSL – a Pumpkin Spice Latté or a Pacific sand lance? To some people, a PSL is both. Either way, PSL season is fast approaching. The leaves are changing, warm drinks are on the menu, and the liquid sunshine (rain) is welcomed after such a dry summer. Project Watershed is gearing up for our Fall/Winter sampling.
