Technician Report – Tuesday November 23, Beach Seine Monitoring
Happy Technician Tuesday! Last week our team partnered with Laura Terry from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) to conduct a beach seine at Hollyhock Flats.
The Estuary Carol Walk is Back – Dec 5th, 2021
Once again we will enliven the K’ómoks Estuary with the merry sounds of Christmas Carols. There will be a few changes to this year’s event to keep everyone COVID safe, however, singing and merriment will continue to be the core of this activity.
PSL – the Debate is Out and Volunteers are Needed
PSL – a Pumpkin Spice Latté or a Pacific sand lance? To some people, a PSL is both. Either way, PSL season is fast approaching. The leaves are changing, warm drinks are on the menu, and the liquid sunshine (rain) is welcomed after such a dry summer. Project Watershed is gearing up for our Fall/Winter sampling.
Shoreline Cleanup Synopsis Fall 2021
The shoreline from Little River to Deep Bay is 36 tonnes cleaner thanks to the efforts of this fall’s shoreline cleanup.
Forage Fish Summer Summary
Our forage fish teams were well supported and very productive this summer. The teams performed 28 sampling events of potential forage fish spawning habitat between Cortes Island, Quadra Island, Hornby Island, Campbell River, and the Comox Valley.
