Project Watershed won the Sustainability Award at the Beauty and the Beast Chamber Award Gala this January. Kathy Haigh, Director of Fundraising and Caila Holbrook, Manager of Fundraising, Outreach and Mapping attended on the Societies behalf and accepted the Award. “From the video presentation it was apparent that the other nominees; Cascadia Liquors and the Old House Hotel and Spa, were committed to being sustainable in any ways they could. Our commitment to turning the Field Sawmill into Kus-kus-sum shows that we are helping our community do more than they can individually or business by business. Giving businesses and individuals an opportunity to collaborate and create a more sustainable future.”
Transforming what has become a beast of an industrial site into the beauty of natural habitat will be like a fairy tale that will keeping the heart of our community living. We hope everyone participates in Q’waqwalaqwa (Keeping It Living) at Kus-kus-sum and beyond. We are grateful to have a committed Board of Directors (volunteer), membership and volunteers.
