In Memory of Ralph Shaw: 1926-2015
Ralph Shaw, a key sportsman and conservation personality in the Comox Valley died on January 7, 2016.  Ralph who wrote a weekly sportsman column for the Comox Valley Record was proud to tell you that he had not missed a week’s publication deadline in 28 years.  A former teacher, school principal, and recipient of the “order of Canada”  he was a huge supporter of Project Watershed. Board Chair Paul Horgen reports that he had met with Ralph in the first week of November as he had contacted him to do an article on our vision for the old Field site. We talked about the climate, the Comox Glacier retreating and its effects of the estuary, the old field site and his interest in fishing and hunting. At 89 he was extremely knowledgeable in many areas and was very solution oriented. Ralph was a pleasure to talk with, a real gentleman and will be missed greatly by the local conservation and sportsman community.
