Coastal Community is accepting donations of securities on behalf of Project Watershed

The Comox Valley Project Watershed Society is excited to announce Matt Beckett, AVP and Private Wealth Advisor of Coastal Community Private Wealth Group as the official broker for the Society. This will increase the fundraising efforts for the Kus-Kus-Sum project* and allow the Society to accept the donation of securities in kind.

“We couldn’t be more pleased to partner with an organization that is forward-thinking and one that is working on more than just the waterways of the Comox Valley,” said Matt Beckett. “Donation of securities is a great way to give as it supports an organization the donor cares about, eliminates the capital gain on the appreciated securities, and provides the donor a charitable receipt. This is a major feature of donating stocks, bonds or mutual funds.“
“It was a natural fit as Coastal Community is a local Island-based organization”, said Caila Holbrook of Comox Valley Project Watershed Society. “This adds to our options for our donors to help us reach our goals. The best part is that any costs to sell securities donated through this option will be covered by Coastal Community, allowing us to keep 100% of the donation. Other options usually come with a fee – that is a true partnership.”
