We celebrated our 30th Anniversary in style and raised our largest total yet at this years Keeping It Living Dinner.

We lucked out with one of those beautiful sunny September days we get here in the Comox Valley. Sunlight and warmth mingled with the uplifting voice of Helen Austin and the delicious aromas of local cuisine at 40 KNOTS Winery. It was a perfect setting for celebrating environmental restoration, research, and education.

Lush Valley’s Farmer’s Kitchen Food Truck prepared and served tasty appetizers, a scrumptious salad and a well-rounded flavourful dinner. These elements were enjoyed with paired 40 KNOTS Wines and Heavenly Libations mocktails. The spiced pot de creme dessert was made by our own Caitlin Pierzchalski, who did a stint as a pastry chef, and was paired with a taster of Safe Haven port.

The event raised just over $12,000. Thanks to our sponsors the Old House NotaryEcofish Research LTDSylvan Learning, 40 KNOTS Winery, and our dinner guests, reverse 50/50 players and auction participants. Brenda and Layne of 40 KNOTS not only provided the venue but also presented us with a cheque for $1,344 from sales of Safe Haven throughout the year.

The reverse 50/50 brought in $1,520 as all winners decided to donate their share back to Project Watershed. The auction was also a big success raising over $3,500. Thanks to all the businesses who donated items listed here.

During the dinner event the Keeping It Living Award was presented to Kate Brown and Janet Gemmel for the contributions  Jim Palmer and Pieter Rutgers made to the Morrison Creek Headwaters acquisition project. To read more about this award please read Presenting the 2022 Keeping It Living Award.

We were thrilled to have this opportunity to gather with proponents of environmental work and were filled with appreciation for the support we received.

This event couldn’t have happened without our hardworking volunteers and we would like to thank and recognise them for their contributions.
