Marika Ai-Li

Restoration and Monitoring Manager

Marika is a first-generation settler of Chinese and Dutch ancestry. She grew up near the Stó:lō River, on the shared territories of the Xwchíyò:m, Sts’ailes and Seabird Island First Nations.

Marika has worked with non-profits around the Salish Sea managing conservation, restoration and land stewardship initiatives for the past decade. Her past work has focused on streams, wetlands, Garry oak ecosystems, pollinators, native plant propagation, plant species-at-risk and Indigenous culturally-significant plants. She has a BSc in Applied Biology, Plant and Soil Sciences from UBC and is completing UVic’s Restoration of Natural Systems diploma while working towards her RPBio.

Marika seeks to consider relationality, scale and future generations in land-based work. She is excited to bring her foundation in conservation science, restoration design and community collaboration to the Project Watershed team.
