Description

We are taking classes from Brooklyn (Grade 3/4), Puntledge (Grades 2/3, 4 & 6), Miracle Beach (Grades 2, 3&4, 4&5, 5&6) and Courtenay Elementary (Grades 2 -5) to various locations to learn about estuary and coastal ecology/function and to assist with planting and plant maintence. The students will be broken into three groups and rotate through activities on the field trip. The activities will include plant maintenance (mulching/weeding), nature walk/plant identification, salmon versus seals game, and water testing.

We need volunteers to help facilitate the activities of this field trip with our staff. Project Watershed staff will bring all necessary equipment to the site, set up the activities and direct the tasks. Volunteers are asked to help students with the tasks of the activities. To prepare volunteers for the field trip, we will send out specific information on the activity they will be involved in. They will also give a run through of the activity the day of the field trip prior to the students arriving on site. The water testing and salt water wedge demonstration are slightly more involved than the other activities. Volunteers who sign up for this activity are welcome to connect with staff to do a run through of the activity prior to the field trip day.

Project Watershed stickers

Ever seen our stickers? We give these out to students on field trips and to our supporters at our annual appreciation events so they can show their PW love! We also stick them on equipment that we lend out to help keep track of our items. Thanks to Sticker Mule for printing these custom stickers for us.
