Gartley Point Eelgrass Tying
Description
Volunteers are needed to help prepare eelgrass shoots for transplant during our upcoming eelgrass restoration work taking place at Gartley Point.
Volunteers will work in shifts, helping to attach metal washers to eelgrass shoots which have been harvested by our dive team. The dive team will then replant the eelgrass shoots in the area we are trying to restore. The washers will act as a weighted anchor, allowing the transplanted shoots to take root before the washers eventually rust away.
Volunteer tiers will be meeting at the Union Bay Boat Launch at either 9am or 12:30pm. We will have a shade tent set up, as well as several folding chairs. If you have your own chair please bring it, as we may not have enough for everyone. Remember to dress for the weather including hats, sturdy footwear, sunscreen, and extra layers.
