Wrapping Up 2019 Party at Bayside Cafe

Project Watershed invites everyone out to the Bayside Cafe on November 30 for the closing of our 2019 Keeping It Living Art Show and to celebrate all the activities and successes we have had this past year."2019 has been quite a year for Project Watershed and our Kus-kus-sum initiative. We felt that a celebration amongst art that supports Kus-kus-sum was a great way to wrap it all up before Christmas." said Kathy Haigh, Fundraising Director. The event will run from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at #5 2760 Cliffe Ave in Courtenay.

Project Watershed invites everyone out to the Bayside Cafe on November 30 for the closing of our 2019 Keeping It Living Art Show and to celebrate all the activities and successes we have had this past year.”2019 has been quite a year for Project Watershed and our Kus-kus-sum initiative. We felt that a celebration amongst art that supports Kus-kus-sum was a great way to wrap it all up before Christmas.” said Kathy Haigh, Fundraising Director.

The event will run from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at #5 2760 Cliffe Ave in Courtenay. Donna Crozier will kick off the evening with some delightful harp music. Tickets are $5. Everyone who plans to attend must get a ticket either online or by calling our office, 250-703-2871, as space is limited! Each ticket includes a small or medium drink of your choice from Bayside Cafe, finger foods and 15% off select pieces of art.

As this will be the last day of the art show, a selection of artworks will be on sale to encourage them going to a new home. This will also be the final day to buy raffle tickets for the two Brian Buckrell originals created earlier this month (the images of these originals are included in this post). We will have our brand new toques available as well as our alternative gift cards, art cards and chocolates.

The party will double as our annual donor and volunteer appreciation event. “Project Watershed is honored by and grateful for all the support we have received this year. This is our small way to say thank you” said Caila Holbrook, Manager of Fundraising, Outreach and Mapping.

The work of Project Watershed is made possible by our dedicated volunteers. This year alone volunteers have spent over 2300 hours of their time planting native species, staffing booths, painting salmon, editing newsletters, attending meetings and doing a variety of other tasks geared toward environmental improvement in the Comox Valley. Every year we have a few volunteers, in addition to our Board Members, who are some of our most dedicated volunteers, that go above and beyond in the amount of time and energy they give to Project Watershed. This year a special thanks goes out to Don Mitchell, Valerie Sherriff (and Gordon who often comes with her!), Virginia East, Ellen Rainwalker and Debbie Haynes.

In addition to time, many people have made financial contributions to Project Watershed over the year. “Our community donors have been a large factor for our success this year, especially in terms of the Kus-kus-sum initiative” states Bill Heidrick, Vice Chair. “We have had over 650 people donate in excess of $145,000 and we are thankful for every penny.”

Project Watershed thanks the Bayside Cafe for hosting the art show and for their continued support throughout the year.
