In honour of National Pollinators Week, Marika will be speaking about Native Bees. 

Join us on June 22nd for our 2024 Annual General Meeting, featuring a talk on Native Bees by Marika Ai-Li, our Restoration & Monitoring manager. We will have bee focused resources and information. Sweet treats, fruits and refreshments will also be on offer.

In honour of National Pollinator Week, Marika will be speaking about Native Bees, a topic that is near and dear to her heart. 

Marika is wild about native bees and flowers! She has led a variety of pollinator education, stewardship and native bee community science programs across Coast Salish territories over the past decade. She now lives in K’ómoks territory working with Project Watershed as a Restoration and Monitoring Lead. Marika formerly worked for the Coastal Douglas Fir Conservation Partnership and the Environmental Youth Alliance where she managed projects focused on species-at-risk conservation, habitat restoration and land-based education programs. She holds a BSc in Applied Biology, Plant & Soil Sciences from UBC and is completing the Restoration of Natural Systems Diploma at UVic.

In honour of National Pollinators Week, Marika will be speaking about Native Bees. 

The meeting will take place in the boardroom of the Comox Valley Regional District at 770 Harmston Avenue in Courtenay. We will report on our restoration, research, and education work from 2023 and look forward to the work 2024 holds.  We will also introduce new staff, elect board members, and unveil our new mission statement.

The keynote speaker for the event is our new Restoration & Monitoring Manager Marika Ai-Li. She will be speaking about Native Bees, a topic that is near and dear to her heart.

Note: We be set up with a computer, camera and speakers so that people can attend virtually as well as in person. People attending virtually will not be able to vote.
