Forage Fish Feature – Winter 2024/2025
Have you wondered what happens at Project Watershed in the winter? Plants may go dormant at this time of year, but Pacific sand lance are busy spawning – and that means our four-person forage fish team and 32 community volunteers are also busy!
Volunteer Symposium 2025
On February 22nd, we will be appreciating all those who volunteered with us in 2024 and orienting anyone who wants to volunteer in 2025 at our Symposium event at 2 pm. We encourage all current and prospective volunteers to attend!
Greenshores at Dyke Road Park – Reimagining a Park
On September 20 and 21, over 20 people were on site to help with planting at the Comox Valley Regional District’s (CVRD) Dyke Road Park redevelopment project.
Retired Teachers Fund Environmental Education
To launch a new field-based environmental program, the Comox Valley Project Watershed Society has received a $5,000 donation from District 47 Vancouver Island of RTOERO.
Ken Kirkby Challenge raises funds for Project Watershed
Thank you to everyone who helped raise funds for ecological restoration, research and education through the Ken Kirkby Challenge this summer. Over $55,000 was raised through donations, a raffle and the Paintings, By The Numbers event.
A New Day for Forage Fish
Project Watershed and the Coastal Forage Fish Network (CFFN) are celebrating Surf Smet Day on October 25th! This adds another day on which to celebrate and raise awareness about beach spawning forage fish as Pacific sand lance are celebrated on a day in December.

Climate Change and Kus-kus-sum by WWF
This video, produced by the World Wildlife Fund, explores the connection between Kus-kus-sum and climate change. One of the benefits of restoring 8.3 acres of habitat at Kus-kus-sum is all the plants that are being planted will take up carbon, helping mitigate climate change.
