June Eelgrass Restoration Completed
Between June 2 and 11, six dedicated staff members, approximately 23 volunteers and the UB Diving crew worked together to accomplish the impressive task of transplanting 6,000 stems of eelgrass!

Earthworks Continue at Kus-kus-sum
While the Kus-kus-sum site is already beginning to come into its own, there is still much work to be done. Just over one third of the area was recontoured and planted last year in 2022. Project Watershed aims to recontour and replant the remainder of the site this summer and fall, if funding allows. The key works you will see on site this year include recontouring and regrading, habitat complexing, and native species planting.
Project Watershed is Hiring Environmental Technicians!
We will be hiring two environmental technicians who will be supporting Project Watershed’s restoration and monitoring projects for during Summer of 2023.
Eelgrass Transplant Tying
Project Watershed is working to restore eelgrass beds around the Oyster River Estuary! Professional divers will bring in locally-harvested donor eelgrass plants, and volunteers are needed to tie the plants onto metal washers so we can transplant the eelgrass to a new home.
